Durban Progressive Jewish Congregation
The Durban Progressive Jewish Congregation (DPJC) promotes and supports Progressive Judaism, its traditions and practices, and advocates Jewish values. Membership is open to all Jews and is based on complete equality: no differentiation is made between men and women, rich and poor. Its Synagogue and offices at Temple David provide a structure for many aspects of Jewish life from regular prayer services to events such as brit milah and baby namings, bar- and bat-mitzvah ceremonies, weddings, and the services of the Chevra Kadisha.
The congregation is committed to promoting and strengthening Progressive Zionist youth activities through its youth movement Netzer (Hebrew for “shoot”, representing new growth). The DPJC works closely with the CKNJ on many levels and attends mutual functions and events.
