DURBAN HEBREW SCHOOLS ASSOCIATION
The Durban Hebrew Schools’ Association (DHSA) has a long history of Jewish education in our province. Today, schooling continues under the new leadership of Eden College, offering a high quality Jewish education to Jewish pupils within a matrix representative of the broader community.
The goal of the DHSA is to ensure that every Jewish child in Durban has the opportunity to receive a Jewish education. In addition to the high standards of both religious and secular education demanded by the DHSA, they aim to foster an atmosphere of chavershaft (camaraderie) and a Jewish ethos amongst the learners.
Through Moriah Playschool and the Gunter Lazarus Judaica Centre, and by supporting initiatives such as Talmud Torah, the DHSA fulfils its obligation and role in this critical area of Jewish life. The CKNJ enjoys a close relationship with the DHSA, and supports the great work of the DHSA in grooming tomorrow’s young leaders.
