NETZER DURBAN

Netzer in Hebrew means “shoot” (representing growth), and Netzer Durban is an offshoot of an international Progressive Zionist youth movement committed to interactive, informal Jewish education, youth empowerment, and tikkun olam (repairing the world). The close Netzer community in Durban ensures that each of their chaverim (members) has a strong sense of ownership and belonging to the movement and its ideals.

The motto of nilmad v’na’aseh (“We will learn and we will do”) embodies the movement’s approach to all their activities, which include outings, prayer services, Shabbatonim, and an annual summer camp in the western Cape. Netzer also offers a post-matric year programme in Israel, the purpose of which is to strengthen the connection to Israel, Zionism, and Progressive Judaism amongst the future leaders of the movement.
